Welcome to Kylemore College Music Department webpage. Here you will find information on the activities of the Music Department in Kylemore College.

Music for Success

We are proud to introduce Music for Success, a new programme aimed at providing access to a music education for all Kylemore College students. Music for Success aims to build on the very strong links that Kylemore College has with the CDETB Music Centre, local National Schools and other music agencies. For the first time, Music is available as an optional subject for all first year students. In addition to Music as a curriculum subject, instrumental classes are also being provided through lunchtime clubs and afterschool music classes. The response from the students and their parents has been very positive.

Choose your own song, learn to play it and record it in just 5 weeks!

Click the pictures below to download recordings made by this year's first year students. Each group of students selected a song and worked with the teachers to learn, perform and record their choice. All of this work took place in just 7 hours over 5 weeks! Some great talent here folks.

This first recording features the vocal talents of Brandon Carrig.                                                                                                 The band consists of Danielle Doyle on keyboard, Aaron Byrne & Richard Zsovar on bass lines, Conor Byrne on guitar and Brian Coombes on Drums.

This track introduces the voice of Abby Corcoran backed by Brandon Carrig & Curtis Carberry guitar, Katelyn O Keeffe on violin, Kate Ann Smith on percussion with Mr Kelly on keyboard.

This final band from group 1B presents a vocal duet between Brandon & Abby. The band is made up of Nikia Redmond & Casey Gillespie on keyboards, Mark Doyle & Gordon Payne on guitar and Reece Rogers on drums.

The next group of students, group 1A, presented two songs. The songs chosen were Three Little Birds by Bob Marley and the ever popular Wake Me Up by Avicii. As this was a small group, the whole class got involved in performing and recording both songs. You can listen to them by clicking on the pictures below.

The final group of first years (1c) performed three different songs, Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus, Just Give Me A Reason by Pink and Nate Ruess & A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. Vocal and instrumental talent was very much on display here and highlights included Jamie Lang on guitar for A Thousand Years, Sarah Draga and Liam Kane on vocals and harmony for Just Give Me A Reason & Monsurah Kadiri singing Wrecking Ball.
