The Junior Cycle

At Kylemore College students may study a variety of subjects for the Junior Cycle. Kylemore College also delivers the Junior Certificate School Programme (JCSP) and a Literacy and Numeracy programme. We also have an EARLY MORNING CLUB and BREAKFAST CLUB especially for our Junior Cycle students where students interact in a fun and safe way outside the classroom.

GLUAIS members (senior pupils carefully chosen and trained) organise activities for Junior Cycle students throughout the school year. These senior students also provide a support service particularly for First Year students to help them make the adjustment to secondary school.

The Junior Certificate is assessed by means of a written examination at the end of the three years, along with practical examinations and project work in some subjects and oral and aural examinations in Irish and continental languages. The practical and oral examinations take place during the third year and written examination takes place in June.
