This course is a hands on, skills based programme which equips the student with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to embark upon a career in the sound engineering and music production fields. We aim to awaken
and nurture a passion for the subject. Our students will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for successful progression into industry or to higher education universities and institutes with whom Kylemore College has long established links.
Students often progress straight into industry gaining employment as sound engineers in recording studios, live music venues, theatres, PA companies, festival production companies and radio/TV studios. For some, this course has been a gateway to a career as a professional musician.
This course will help you develop the creative and technical skills for a successful career in the music or sound engineering industry. You will learn the specifics of music theory, audio recording techniques and music production. You will also gain an understanding of the relevant aspects of the business side of the music industry. The studios, equipment and software used for lectures and practical work are of the highest professional standard, ensuring that students gain an up to date and relevant insight into the world of audio production.
Applicants should have achieved Leaving Certificate or equivlent. Mature applicants with suitable industry experience/qualifications may also apply. Admission is limited and subject to interview.
